Viejas in Boots

Corina - I do not care much about wintry weather. However, I do enjoy wearing cold weather styles such as boots. I like all styles, but when shopping for a pair I tend to gravitate towards ankle-length boots with chunky heels and ones with details such as zippers or buckles. Booties are the most versatile style when it comes to boots. They can be paired with a wide range of outfits such as office suits or weekend joggers. Now, let us not forget at least one pair of rain boots and the classic knee-length black pair for a Viejas night out!

What am I for the hunt this fall when it comes to boots? a pair of white or ivory ones...What about you?

Ana- In the mid 1970s boots took Venezuela by storm. We used to import fashion from the United Staes and those were the days of boots and mini skirts. I remember my mother being vey exited about them. There was a lot of conversation-around the house- about buying a pair. My mother used to sew our outfits for the carnival.

In the 70s, boots became her inspiration for our carnival costumes. Corina a"Russian princess" and I a "rodeo cowgirl".

That is when I got my first -ever-pair of white patent leather knee-high boots. I do not remember wearing them much after that or owning any other pair. At the time boot openings were a bid wide for my skinny legs and my mom did not think they look very flattering on me. Fast forward to the early 1980s.

I am now living in the U.S. and boot opening have gotten skinnier. I filled my closet with many pairs of knee high boots in the 80s and 90s.

Now, I have a pair that imitates some reptile print, a pair of swede ankle boots, and the usual winter boots. I only own one pair of knee high black boots, which I love and wear religiously in the fall. Come to think of it its about that time of the year. I have to go get them out of the closet!
