Tote Bags: Everything, Everyday!

Ana- I was reading that 72% of women own at least one tote bag, and experts predict that the global market for tote bags will reach $18.7 billion by 2027.

Tote means "to carry”. When it comes to carrying a big bag everyday; well, can I take a pass?

When I was in elementary school , I used to bring all my subject matter books in a humongous bag; everyday. My dad used to say: “surely you do not need every single book everyday”. I would respond with a resounding: “yes I do”.

Thankfully, technological advances have allowed laptops to replace books, magazines and newspapers; mobile phones now replace cash, cards, and wallets. Viejas, we also look better with less or no make up. So, unless you carry your groceries home, why do you need a tote bag for? For me is because every once in a while I reach out for one of my two tote bags. They are still my most stylish companions when I attend a professional meeting or head out for a weekend getaway.

Corina - When it comes to handbags, going big has always been my style. As I mentioned in our post Bags & Purses back in October of 2022 my bags are all about utility, and they tend to be a carry-all. It has to be large enough so I can fit everything I think I need such as my 3 pairs of glasses, eye drops, phone, agenda, wallet, a cardigan or scarf, a pen, and sometimes even an extra pair of tights. Well, you get the idea! I feel I need to be ready for any situation when I leave the house for work, shopping, traveling or just to hang out with friends.

I prefer the slouchy soft leather types, which go well with my casual everyday outfits. I also like my bags in neutral colors so I do not have to switch them continuously, but I can use the same bag for days or weeks at a time. This spring and summer there are new trends that I really like and might try out if I buy a new bag: ice blue color, outside cargo pockets or snake print.
