The Traditionally Male Vest

Corina- Remember our spring 2022 post “The Never Boring Vest”? We are circling back to the vest trend with a focus on the office ready vest or what is known as the men’s inspired vest. Vests continue to be seen everywhere this spring and summer especially the form fitting suit vest worn as part of the 3-piece suit or in many other outfit combinations. They are a perfect transitional piece and easy to grab when getting dressed in the morning. I wear mine with a traditional button-down shirt or T-shirt and matching trousers. Sometimes I also combine them with a skirt or basic black ankle pants. It is the same way I wore my men inspire vests back in the 90’s (except for the untuck shirt). Viejas, I guess our style is always our style!

Ana- I lived in Virginia 18 of the 23 years I have been in the United States. During those years, my husband and I would frequent a disco about 10 minutes from our house.

We always just went; no planning. Every time we did, I went to the closet and put on a pair of jeans, my dancing shoes, a white t-shirt, and a tailored pin striped vest. I remember our dancing dates fondly. We danced the entire time, I drank a lot of water, and we always saw other regulars: The 80 year old dancing with himself, the ocasional business man with a much younger companion, and the groovy african american couple.

I do not know what happened to that vest. I wish I had kept it, but it does not matter. I raided my husband's closet and adjusted one of his. I am restarting dancing date nights!
