The Denim Maxi Skirt

One of fall 2023’s biggest denim trends isn’t even a pair of jeans.

Give up for reappearance of the early-’00s denim skirt in midi and maxi lengths.

Viejas, this is my favorite come back garment thus far. Since I found out it was a thing, I have been searching for one. Let me tell you, it was more of a hunt than a search. The denim maxi was no where to be found but no one was talking about it being missing. After two weekends of fail visits at my favorite stores and countless defeated looks; I decided to buy one on line. I finally found one that "looked like me" for $80 after shipping and handling.

I had never really bought into the concept of a basic capsule wardrobe; yet, this denim maxi made me a convert. I literally got tired of finding pieces in my closet; that I can combine with this skirt. Viejas, this denim maxi goes with EVERYTHING!

Good luck hunting. I hope you find yours before it goes out of fashion again. I will be wearing mine until it falls apart. When it does, I will turn it into a bag.

Corina – As mentioned in previous posts I don’t wear jeans, but I am a big fan of jean jackets, skirts and shirts. I am very excited with the return of the 70’s denim maxi skirt seen everywhere this fall. It is a great alternative to wearing jeans, especially if the hemline reaches the ankles or sweeps the floor. Of, course I decided I needed one or two denim maxi skirts this fall. However, I ended up with none since at 5’3” most of the ones I tried were way too long, too heavy and all the extra fabric just made me look shorter and wider. I still bought a new denim skirt to wear this season, but it’s a midi instead of a maxi, which looks much better on me. Viejas, sometimes we are destined to admire trends we love in others rather than in ourselves!
