The Cardigan Sweater
Corina- growing up in Venezuela cardigan sweaters was something only older men wore. I remember my grandfather always wearing one even in the 80-degree Venezuelan weather.
Who can forget Mr. Rogers’ red cardigan from the show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood? https://www.misterrogers.org/ Yet, with the many styles, colors, lengths and textures of today’s cardigans that is a stereotype of the past. I started wearing cardigans after I moved to the States. I really didn’t get into them until the no buttons/zipper cardigan trend. The not so short crop over t-shirts, and who can resist the oversize comfy ones paired with skirts or sweatpants.
Ana- Viejas, cardigans are like comfort food. When I put one of my cardigans on, I feel like I am eating a "golfeado". The Venezuelan version of the america cinnamon roll.
This feeling can actually be dangerous so I never wear a cardigan on an empty stomach!
I have many cardigans in a variety of colors and shapes. I have long ones and cropped ones. None of them are expensive. I wear them forward and backwards, to lounge around the house, to run errands, and to complete an outfit when I go out for work or to have fun.
According to Style magazine, “there's no one cardigan outfit idea that is set to reign supreme” this fall. I agree. I have even worn a cardigan on top of a backwards cardigan; like you see in this picture.
Cardigans are definitely a go to garment for me.
I know when I get really old , my children will probably gift me cardigans. That is what most old people get; right? I am okay with that but I telling them right now.. “no flowery granny stuff, I am a ViejawithStyle! “
I love my cardigan, it's very comfortable and warm. I need a golfeado!
