Super Tactile Fashion
Corina – Remember our April 9, 2023, post Make it Interesting; Add Texture? We are circling back to texture since 2024 is taking texture to the extreme to make fashionable statements. As I was reading articles about this trend, it reminded me of my co-worker who referred to my velvet textured poncho as cozy and “pettable.” Although not a term I would have used to describe my outfit, it made a lot of sense since I usually want to touch things that are visually appealing. The comment also reminded me of the long cardigan sweater I have often worn this winter. It is a cotton blend, warm, comfortable, and with so much texture I do not have to style it. I wear it on top of anything and I am ready to go!
Ana- Remember when fabrics like corduroy and velvet were the most tactile fabrics you could find? Embroidery was exclusively for weddings or evening wear. Ruffles, fringes and the occasional big rose detail left some of us wondering: What were they thinking?
2024 will be the year to say: That is beautiful! can I touch that? It is called: Super tactile fashion.
Viejas, I do not want to walk the streets with a stuffed animal on. However I do own “touches” of fake fur, understated fringes, and a vest sure to temp babies and dogs to engage.
This super tactile world is brand new to me and is so inclusive! Pleading, draping, embossing, meshing, quilting, paneling, embroidery, and fake fur. Anything goes in the quest for a 3D visual tactile effect.
Put on the the cashmere, and if you have it; why not, put on the stuff animal! Viejas, I do not know about you, but I am a long way from catching up to this fashion trend.
