Sharpen your Style with Pencil Skirts

Ana- According to writtenapparel.com the first pencil skirts were known as H skirts; part of Dior’s H line collection, the “H” referred to the vertical shape of the skirt, resembling the slim look of a pencil.
The H skirt was tapered at the hemline which sat either right above or right below the knee, drawing the eyes to the hips, rather than the waist.
I love pencil skirts for this very reason. It makes my lean silhouette look shapely. My hips and calves look fuller. I own many pencil skirts in all lengths classic colors, and patterns.
I combine my pencil skirts with almost any thing: T shirts, jackets, wide belts, chain belts, no belts.
I have so many choices in my closet that it was difficult to choose just a few looks for today’s post.
Pencil skirts are an injection of elegance. They make me feel nostalgic-like I am right right out if an episode of mad men- and trendy-when I combine it with my own sense of style.
Viejas, pencil skirts just make me happy!
Corina – Pencil skirts are a feminine wardrobe piece that have stood the test to time. I love pencil skirts and do own a few. However, I need to be very careful about the fabric of the skirt and how I style them since pencil skirts emphasize my already wide hips. I prefer mine to be a dark color without any patterns or prints and a below the knee or midi length. I like to style pencil skirts casually with tees, sweaters and of course with a button-down shirt. I pair them with sneakers, boots, classic low heel pumps, and sandals in the summer. Sometimes, I also add a belt or scarf.
