Rocking the New 70's- Vieja's Style
I was walking through an art exhibit in Virginia in early fall when I heard... "Are those bell bottoms? Have you owned those since 1973? Keep rocking them; I am telling my sister!"
The truth is I bought them in a boutique in Westerly a few Sundays ago. Corina had come to visit me in Rhode Island and we were walking around downtown. There were only two stores open. Stores in Westerly are not open on Sundays. Now we know! This pair was hanging towards the front of the store and as soon as I saw them I fell in love. "Am I too old for these?" I asked Corina; and the rest is history.
After Ana's bell bottoms success, I (Corina) ran to my closet to see what I had left of the seventies because surely I had something...Fringes? Tie dye? Well, I did not find any bell bottoms or tie dye dresses, but what I did find were my hoop earrings, which were not only in style in the 70's but have been "fashionable" since the time of the ancient Egyptians.
I have been wearing them for six decades because of their versatility, cheerfulness and ageless quality as well as the sentimental value of some of the pairs I own.
If you ask me; there is a perfect pair of hoop earrings for any vieja.
