Knot Your Average Look
Ana- Men and women are wearing sweaters tied in many interesting ways. I have seen them everywhere. The problem with the classic style of wearing sweaters over your shoulders loosely tied it in front, is that they come undone. I also think the look is a bit dated. On the other hand, recent trends of this classic style, has me all tied up in knots. It looks unintentional and not in an effortless kind of way.
As usual I wondered if this vieja would have an opinion about this new way of wearing a sweater. When I decided to take on this trend for our blog, I had to be very intentional not to look sloppy.
Effortless and elegant is really hard; specially when you want to inject a little edge and not look over the top.
This is one of the looks I came up with making sure of the following:
Always fold your sweater in the right place so it falls naturally over your shoulders.
Do not just tie a knot. Work with other accessories to add interest to your styling.
Work with the fabric and sweater details to complete your look.
Corina – Knots are everywhere in fashion these days. I can only name a few types and I cannot tie a tie to save my life. However, increasingly I am seeing clothing items that are already knotted or are designed to be knotted. What I like about this trend is the ease of styling, the fact that knots create dimension, and add personal style. Knots can be the “accessory” for an outfit, they can be used to shorten a dress, tailor an oversize shirt, or give an old piece a fresh look.
There is no such thing as a “perfect” knot, the key is to play with the fabric and placement of the knot until you create the stylish look you want. Viejas, summer is a great season for trying this trend and adding fun knots to your looks!
