Fashion Opposites
Ana- Stripes and flowers. Classic white cotton shirt and taffeta silk. These are things, I was told, should never be worn together. Then, Venezuelan designer Carolina Herrera wore a classic white cotton long sleeve shirt with a silk taffeta ball skirt. That was the start of opposite fashion for me. Carolina would make this opposite; her trademark over the years. Sharon stone and many other celebrities would replicate this particular look again and again on the red carpet years later.
I do not have a taffeta ball skirt or a classic cotton white shirt (maybe I should) so I will not be replicating Carolina's outfit. I have spent this Sunday morning creating my own version of opposites. Here are a few, I feel amazing in.
I think opposite fashion is about finding ways to combine you garments in new, exciting and sophisticated ways. Go ahead viejas, you try it!
Corina - I have always had my own style; however, there was a time when I worried about wearing the “right” or "acceptable" combination of fabrics, colors, or items.
Now, not only have fashion rules changed drastically but so has my tolerance for what is the “right" combination. I am more relaxed about what I wear focusing on what I like and what feels right for me. In this post I am sharing some combinations that might be considered not to “match or fit together" and I would have never worn them in the past, but they have become some of my wardrobe “staples” in the last few years. For example: metallic clothes during the day with a jean jacket, silk dress with tennis shoes, flowy/light dress with a leather jacket or T-shirts under a blazer.
