Coats & Winter Jackets
Corina- I do not buy coats or winter jackets every year. I own "classics" that I can wear multiple winter seasons and daily with many different outfits. I own a couple of utility ones such as a big "puffy" coat for when it's extremely cold and a water resistant/hooded jacket for walking or hiking. The ones I wear everyday are a black wool coat, a brown suede one, a gray military inspired wool jacket, and a leather/fur vest. Of course, there is always that bold, fun coat that I was not looking for, but had to buy when I saw it!
Ana- Viejas, I do not have enough space in my closet to have many coats and winter jackets.
I invest in pieces that can be worn over multiple outfits. I have one coat, one jacket, and a vest. Two of the pieces are black and the other is -more of a departure -in a plum color.
The first coat I ever bought was with money from my first pay check-from my first job- when I was still attending college. I had it until about 15 years ago when it started to fall apart. It was hard for me to let go. It had become a symbol of economic emancipation from my parents.
I prefer down filled coats and vests with high necklines. I still look at them as symbols of economic stability.
