Ana- The fact is I have been confusing cargo pants with carpenter pants. It turns out my style is more carpenter than soldier.

Carpeter pants had a huge moment in Venezuela in the early 1980s. That is when I put my first pair on.

As I watch the cargo pants fashion take over streetware again, I wondered if there was a pair for me. Urban Outfitters which is a store I never frequent, had a pair of “cargo” pants online that caught my attention. I decided to visit the local store and was pleasantly surprise after I got them at 50% off for $25.

I thought…. Ok I have my first cargo pants. I wore them repeatedly for a week.I did not realized I had bought carpenter pants until the hook on the upper side of the left leg got caught in one of the pulls in my kitchen. Yep, they need to go to the tailor to be repaired.

Regardless, this pants have already broken two style records.

Last weekend, a young man at a store called my outfit “rad”. That was a first for me.

The second, I almost brushed against Anna Wintour while wearing these pants walking through the streets of SoHo with Corina.

After Anna passed me, I turned and kept staring at her perfect wig-like hair, her tailored blazer, and flowing skirt. I thought about following her but I immediately came back to my senses and kept walking. Viejas, it was surreal!

Corina – cargo style clothing especially pants have been around for decades, and this trend shows no signs of dying down in 2024. These pants are versatile, comfortable and best of all anyone can wear them. The key is to find one that flatters your body shape and matches your personality. My favorite cargo pants are the exaggerated “street style” look – baggy, lots of pockets, ties, zippers...well, you get the idea...unfortunately, regardless of how many different ones I tried on, most were just not flattering on me. The heaviness, volume and extra features of the style made me feel like I was drowning in fabric. However, with the many options within this trend, I have not given up yet on finding my perfect pair. In the meantime, I am wearing more subdued cargo inspired choices.
